Hey there,

I joined the Rough Edges community in late 2017 as a volunteer and friend of those experiencing homelessness and marginalisation. It has been an often confronting but almost always uplifting experience, because I get the chance to serve, connect, checkin, make eye contact, smile and show respect to those who aren't as fortunate as you and I. For me it has been a privilege.

In truth , some have made poor decisions, others have been naive, however I now know that through little fault of their own, the majority are simply in a hard place and need our support to survive and find their way back. That's what Rough Edges works to do.

Despite the goodwill of donations, a small army of volunteers and a network of charitable organisations that provide food, services and goods to Rough Edges, it needs hard cash to fund the small team of permanent social welfare and support staff, buy basic equipment and simply keep the lights on.

Your donation will support someone whom you will likely never meet, however may pass, and most certainly is a son or daughter, brother or sister just like us all. 

Donations made through this platform can be anonymous, and are tax deductible. Payments are secure and will be remitted directly to St John's Community Services Ltd to support their Rough Edges and Banksia Women services.
